The Founding Paper begins with history rather than technology. Every enterprise infrastructure layer — financial, data, cloud — arrived the same way: when a resource became central to how organizations succeed, and the human way of coordinating it hit a ceiling the paper calls coordination bandwidth. The paper's claim is that an organization's own accumulated reasoning has now reached exactly that ceiling.

That reasoning behaves like a real economic resource: it compounds, it depreciates when the people who hold it leave, and — unlike capital or talent — it cannot simply be acquired, because it was never resident in any one person to begin with. What organizations have always lacked is not information, but a way to preserve the continuity of their own understanding. Recording is not remembering. Context Infrastructure is the layer that makes an organization remember.

Why I'm building Orelis

I've watched companies pay for the same knowledge twice, three times, ten times — briefing new counsel on battles already fought, losing negotiating ground on points already won, writing off decades of judgment every time someone senior walks out the door. Nobody decided it should work this way. It's just that a company's accumulated judgment never had anywhere to live, so it defaulted to living everywhere except with the company that paid for it.

That arrangement made sense before AI could capture reasoning, not just documents. It doesn't anymore.
